Donald Trump revellers gather in Florida to await his arrival

Musk has made a concerted effort on Trump’s behalf in Pennsylvania, where polls show Trump locked in a dead heat with his Democratic foe,

Elon Musk said on X/Twitter that he, the world’s richest man, would hang out with Donald Trump on election night at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

Tesla and X owner Mr Musk has actively lobbied for the Republican nominee in battleground states nationwide.

Thousands of Trump supporters also gathered at watch parties hosted by his campaign at the Palm Beach Convention Center.

The tech billionaire has become one of Trump’s top patrons, giving over $119m (£91.6m) this election cycle to America PAC - a political action committee he set up to support the former president.

Despite declaring in 2022 that "it’s time for Trump to hang up his hat and sail into the sunset," Mr Musk announced his support for the former president earlier this year.

Before going to Florida, he shared an image of himself Tuesday claiming to have voted in Cameron County, Texas — where some of his businesses are based.

He posted later in the evening on X, saying, "Game, set and match."

Supporters waited for results late Tuesday night at Trump’s headquarters in the Palm Beach convention centre, where the campaign felt confident it would prevail. There was even a moment when the crowd started dancing to the song “YMCA.”

Back at HQ, the large crowd let out loud cheers when Florida was declared Trump's win.

It was always a foregone conclusion that he would deliver this once-swing state, now dark Republican red, but it helped to grease the party mood.

The crowd erupted over Georgia and North Carolina’s positive margins so far. To boo every time Harris’ name came up on the watch screen.

Former congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, who had just come from Trump’s more exclusive watch party at Mar-a-Lago, was paid off to attend the party.

“It was full of a lot of enthusiastic people there” who were “cautiously optimistic,” he told FOX NEWS.

Trump was at Mar-a-Lago with close confidant Steve Witkoff.

He said there is "a perfect vibe of energy and motivation.”

The audience was a mix of red Maga hats and the other oddities that have become the norm at Trump events.

Blake Marnell frequently dons a suit made to resemble a brick wall to Trump-related functions in support of former President Donald Trump's immigration policy and plans.

Civil War trumpets that he feels pretty optimistic and successful. According to him, Trump's “real success” will be about “how long does the Trump political philosophy last?”

Across from the convention site, the Hilton is throwing a party for Trump supporters.

Everyone’s in formalwear, making it feel like a prom, or, at least to Iowa Republican delegate Deborah Yanna: "It feels like Christmas morning."

That’s her analogy for the waiting period as results come in.

She said he’ll 'make America shine again' when President Trump returns to the White House.

Then, she turned to show me the sequined jacket she was wearing, the back of which had those words bedazzled on it.

Salvadoran-born business owner Sergio Ramirez was also at the convention centre to support Trump.

If he loses, he says, "It’s because they cheated, " then laughs. He says, "I really do not see how she can win.” Kamala was not a very popular candidate. He was put in there, and everybody is suffering financially. This is passing by.

Michael, who wore a “Blacks for Trump 2024" T-shirt, echoed his take. They say: "We were more numerous in the advance voting, and we are more numerous now," he claims.

In other news, Steve Bannon, former chief strategist in the Trump White House, will tonight host an election watch party at the Willard Hotel the five-star Washington, DC hotel that was the “command centre" for those loyal to Trump trying to undo the 2020 election.

One week ago, Bannon walked free from federal prison after serving four months behind bars for contempt of the US Congress.
