After the reveal, Donald Trump's November presidential rival, Barack Obama, earlier on Tuesday accused him of not offering transparency because he has so far avoided publishing his own health records.
The vice-presidential candidate also accused her GOP opponent of " not wanting the American people to see whether or not he's qualified to be president."
The former president's team fired back without releasing Trump's medical records, quoting a doctor as saying he was in perfect and excellent health.
The Trump campaign said the Republican nominee was "with an extremely busy and active reelection schedule," adding that Harris, among other things, "does not have the stamina of President Trump."
The tit-for-tat between the two sides unfolded after the White House released a medical report stating that Vice-President Harris "is fit and able to function as president."
In April, a female doctor, Dr Joshua Simmons—a US Army colonel who has been Harris' physician for over three years—wrote that the results of the most recent physical were "unremarkable" and said she remains active with an exercise regimen.
The doctor also mentioned the family history of colon cancer and that she's allergic, then went on to say she has appropriate preventive care done, which includes a colonoscopy every 10 years and yearly mammograms.
Shortly after the medical records were released, a Harris campaign spokesman posted on social media, " Your turn, Donald Trump.
Moments before a campaign event in North Carolina, Harris also questioned the competence of her opponent, saying
The Trump's campaign responded to the claims by insisting he is in "extraordinary health"
After months of Republicans raising questions about President Joe Biden's cognitive functioning during his final campaign, the 78-year-old Trump has come under Democratic attack for being too old and mentally unfit.
On the other hand, if Trump is re-elected president in November, he will finish his second term at 82 — a milestone which would tie him with Biden for being the oldest serving US commander-in-chief (with Trump sharing that record should Biden win and leave office until January).
Trump's campaign communications director, Steven Cheung, said he took questions from the Harris camp after being pressured to release updates yesterday that his own personal physician and a doctor who treated him earlier this summer when an assailant made an assassination attempt against him in Butler, Pennsylvania.
"Everyone has found for him an ideal command that he is, fantastic healthwise," Cheung said.
He also referenced a medical letter in Nov. 2023 that said Trump's "physical exams were normal range and his cognitive exam was superb."
And national polls still show Harris a hair ahead of Trump, with battleground state numbers extremely tight.
